Hi, I’m Nitin Mallya!
My professional journey spans over two decades, rooted in healthcare and digital consulting, with a focus on leadership, innovation, and solving real-world challenges. For nearly 20 years, I honed my skills and expertise at GE Healthcare, contributing to transformative projects that shaped the industry. In 2019, I took a bold leap into the world of startups and advisory roles, embracing opportunities to explore new industries, push boundaries, and apply my leadership and architectural skills to a broader spectrum of problems.
My Journey at GE Healthcare
My career at GE began with the Imaging team, where I spent four years immersed in the XRAY modality. Those early days were transformative—I had the privilege of contributing to digitalizing XRAY platforms, laying the foundation for my passion for building systems that make a meaningful impact. It was a thrilling start to a career that would evolve with each step.
Later, I transitioned to the GE Healthcare Digital team, embarking on one of the most significant phases of my journey. Collaborating with business leadership, I played a pivotal role in building a robust portfolio of EMR, EHR, PACS, and RIS systems. These solutions were designed to meet the dynamic needs of markets across the US, EMEA, and APAC regions, driving innovation while addressing local challenges.
GE’s commitment to leadership development provided me with unparalleled opportunities to lead high-performing teams, solve complex technical problems, and align cutting-edge innovation with business goals. My time at GE wasn’t just about projects—it was about growth, both as a professional and as a leader.
Life Beyond GE
In 2019, I stepped outside the familiar to explore the unknown, leaving GE to focus on startups and advisory roles. This transition wasn’t just a career pivot—it was a chance to align my work with my passions and curiosity. Working on diverse projects in industries beyond healthcare has been an exciting chapter of growth and learning.
What Drives Me
A personal milestone that reshaped my perspective on life was the arrival of my daughter, which reminded me of the importance of balance and priorities. For me, health, family, and work are interconnected, each building upon the other. Without health, it’s impossible to support a family or perform effectively at work; without family, work loses its meaning and fulfillment; and without meaningful work, supporting family and achieving personal goals becomes a challenge. This philosophy has profoundly shaped not only how I live but also how I lead and mentor others.
A Lifelong Love for Learning
If there’s one constant in my life, it’s my insatiable curiosity. I firmly believe that learning never stops, and I’ve made it a priority to continually explore new domains. Recently, I’ve been fascinated by the world of AI/ML, a field that has evolved exponentially since my engineering days. Thanks to MOOC platforms and EdTech tools, I’ve been able to dive deep into this ever-changing space. What I love most about these platforms is their gamified approach—earning badges and certificates makes learning not just productive but fun.
What’s Next?
Curiosity is my compass, always guiding me toward new horizons. At the top of my ever-growing bucket list of subjects are AI, with its limitless possibilities waiting to be explored; Quantum Computing, a field brimming with transformative potential; and Radiology in Healthcare, where I can merge my passion for healthcare with cutting-edge technology. My curiosity doesn’t stop there—my love for travel fuels an ever-expanding list of destinations. The world’s diverse cultures, rich histories, and countless unique experiences continuously inspire me to explore and learn more.
Final Thoughts
For me, life is a journey of continuous learning, exploration, and growth. Whether it’s advancing healthcare systems, mentoring teams, diving into emerging technologies, or finding balance in life, I believe that every step shapes us into better versions of ourselves. I’m excited about what lies ahead and look forward to sharing my journey with others—one story, one challenge, and one accomplishment at a time. my experiences along the way.
